Our Officiant
Scout Phillips Oddly enough, my friendship with the dynamic duo of Alexis and Marie began at a wedding. We danced, we laughed, we talked about food and other things. It was clear that we had more in common than could be covered in one evening, so plans were made to hang out again. I was relatively new to Austin, and glad to meet more folks, particularly of the rainbowy-spectrum variety. Our relationship was enhanced and solidified through making meals for each other, watching movies, and having craft nights while watching episodes of Project Runway. In time, I left Austin, but still managed to keep up with Alexis through our annual shuffleboard exchanges every winter in Phoenix. (She generally destroys me, but every now and again I get lucky and win a match or two). I always know I have a place to crash in Texas, as they are wonderfully hospitable. We stay up late on couches catching up and laughing at the various ridiculous things we have done in the time that has passed between visits. If nothing else, laughter is something I know I will surely encounter with these two. They both have a creative spirit and a love for life that at times can be infectious in the most spectacular zombie-apocalypse sort of fashion. I am so very glad to know them both, they are a creative force to be reckoned with. I am honored to be officiating their wedding in April. |
Our Maestro
Jonathan Nink If I can remember correctly I first met "the girls" at Alicia's (Marie's high school and long time friend) birthday party early 2005. Within minutes of meeting the two I knew they went together like peas and carrots. Watching these two interact with each other over the years has opened my eyes that their relationship is one to admire, even in some ways implement in my own relationship. I'm honored to be a part of the wedding party. Even more ecstatic for the many, many memories we will make as friends for years to come. Much love to the both of you!! |
Our Mistress of Ceremonies
Mitra Nink I first met Marie when I was a little wee one; my sister, Alicia, and Marie have been friends since highschool, so I've known her for quite some time. It wasn't until 2005, I think, when we became "friends" and not just as Alicia's little sister; that's when I met Alexis as well and fell in love with them both. Since then, they have been a staple in my life. I'm so glad to be a part of their lives and vice versa, and to be a part of their wedding party is an honor. I'm sure they are definitely ready for this union to be official and so am I. The love that these two have is irreplaceable. I wish you both the best for many years to come! I love you both! |
Standing up with Marie
Alicia Villarreal Alicia met Marie in a high school English class in 1995. They both wore the same period-appropriate flannel jumper and looked adorable in it. Finding a common interest in comfortable, yet stylish clothes, the girls became great friends and continue their close friendship today. Alicia met Alexis in 2002 and the two developed an amazing secret handshake and friendship. Alicia, Marie, and Alexis share many interests including eating cheese, drinking, laughing, hottubbing, and looking at pictures of cute animals. |

Michele Sherwood Well, Marie is my sister, and Alexis has been a fixture in her life for as long as I can remember. I'm so happy that they have decided to tie the knot AND I get to be part of their special day! My sister could not have picked a more thoughtful, entertaining, successful, and fun loving person to share her life with! |

Kendra Williams Kendra met Marie in 2000 through an ex-boyfriend. The boyfriend did not last, but their friendship is still going strong. When Alexis came on the scene in 2002, lots of wild and crazy nights singing karaoke ensued, and my heart was captured. As Marie and Alexis' relationship has grown, so has my love and respect for them both. I am excited and honored to be part of their wedding party and cannot wait for the big day. |
Standing up with Alexis
Robin Villarreal Robin met Marie through his then-girlfriend, now-wife Alicia in 1996. When Marie began dating Alexis in 2002, Robin and Alexis immediately hit it off and became very close friends. Marie and Alexis have encouraged Robin in his love of performance and he guest-performs regularly with them. |

Morgan Puchek Alexis is my sister and she's getting married to Marie! I've known them for forever and I know how happy and amazing they are together. I'm ready to get back to Austin to hang with everyone and celebrate their wedding! Pop a couple brews, sing and dance to some ridiculous wedding songs and have a great time celebrating both my sisters! |

Michelle Gordon I met Alexis through a mutual friend in the fall of 2002. She had amazing hair. She still has amazing hair. I met Marie about half an hour later. She was foxy then, she's even better looking now. Though they weren't dating yet, I could tell something was afoot between those two. People too often say that "the chemistry was undeniable" or "your baby is so cute" when it just isn't true. But with them, it was true and it holds true still. Well, not the baby part but just the chemistry. I was crazy about them both from the very start. I was a mere five feet away when that word "love" first came up in their conversation. There was a dead frog in the pool, but not even that could detract from the occasion. I can't think of a better partnership or one that I more adore. They've created a home, a community and a life together. As individuals apart, they are bright, driven, charming, gracious, capable and deserving of so much love. As a pair, they are a force to be reckoned with because they are nourished by the love they so very much deserve to have and to give. No one is doing it better. I love Alexis. I love Marie. I love Alexis and Marie. I am awash with gratitude for being included in their lives all these years to experience their journey from the very beginning. I am thrilled, thrilled, that they are to express their love and commitment formally before their family and friends. Finally; I totally saw it coming. They're getting hitched! I'm looking forward to celebrating the occasion with all the other people that love them. They are a beautiful thing to have in common. |
